Description
Welcome to The Old Barn holiday accommodation at Common End Farm, Swinscoe, Ashbourne.
We are family run offering accommodation in a self-contained converted hay barn which is over 250 years old. The barn is located off the main road up a tarmac drive and has its own parking for 6 cars in the yard in front of the barn with further parking available.
The nature of the barn conversion lends itself to be used for Bed and Breakfast or as a complete unit for sole occupancy on a self catering basis if you prefer greater flexibility.
The barn has gained a 3 star AA guest accommodation rating for the Bed and Breakfast.
The barn has been continually updated over the past four years. With oil fired central heating and double glazed windows throughout, the accommodation sleeps 14 people in 6 ensuite bedrooms. An additional child can be accommodated on a sprung slatted campbed by arrangement.
The majority of the accommodation is on the ground floor.
Ground floor
Four bedrooms - there are four bedrooms on the ground floor, two double bedded rooms and two twin bedded rooms. Each room is furnished with wrought iron beds with sprung slatted base and new mattresses for 2010.
Also on the ground floor is;
The guest lounge - a spacious room with character beams, sofas, digital TV and DVD player.
A separate WC and bootroom/store – contains shoe racks, coat hooks, clothes airers, vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board.
The dining room - has an antique pine coloured sideboard containing cutlery, crockery and glassware, and pine tables and chairs seating 16 people.
Kitchen - when hiring the barn on a self catering basis a large, fully equipped kitchen is also available for your sole use. Included is a dishwasher, upright fridge/freezer, microwave and electric ceramic hob with two ovens.

Two bedrooms - there are a further two bedrooms on the first floor. One room contains a wrought iron double bed with sprung slatted base and new mattress for 2010. The second bedroom is furnished as a family room and contains black wrought iron sprung slatted beds (one double bed and two single beds) all with new mattresses for 2010.
All six bedrooms have WC and shower ensuite, colour television and welcome drinks tray (B&B bookings only).
Outside, garden furniture is available for guests use on the yard. There is also plenty of outdoor space for children to play.
Bed & Breakfast
Rooms are charged from £65 per night for two adults sharing for two or more nights. This rate includes welcome drinks tray in rooms, towels and breakfast (a selection of cereals, fruit bowl, toast and jams/marmalade and full English breakfast).
Self Catering
We try to accommodate all enquiries for stays of differing durations so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Located at this most southern tip of the Peak District National Park, we are 3 miles to the west of Ashbourne, 5 miles to Alton Towers and within a short walking distance of Dovedale.
